4 Days Mount Kenya Expedition - Naromoru Route
Tour Schedule
Day 1
Drive from Nairobi to the town of Nanyuki for a short stop to meet the guide, cook and a team of porters as well as do food purchases. For hiking equipment, may also hire at this point, climbing shoes, windbreakers, sunglasses, baclava, sunscreen lotion and other personal items as may be advised by the guide.
Drive to Naromoru Park entrance.
Dinner and overnight at Naromoru Bandas
Day 2
Start off the climbing through dense thick tropical rain forest of Mt Kenya with the highest peak at 5,199m asl (17,057 ft asl). The route offers great views as you go up the steep and boggy moorland.
Dinner and Overnight at Mackinders camp (4,300m asl)
Day 3
Pre-dawn tea and coffee, start off on 5-6 hours climbing headed to point Lenana peak (4,895m asl or 16,355 ft asl, the third highest peak for regular trekking. The trip takes you through the moorland with unique vegetation of senecios and lobelia.
After the Summit, climb down back to Mackinders Camp for breakfast.
After breakfast, trek down the mountain back to Naromoru Park Gate to be picked by your transport to Naromoru town.
Dinner and overnight at a hotel.
Day 4
Drive back to Nairobi or join a wildlife safari.
